EULOGY OF PAUL K. _________. 1924-2006

I was born on a farm in NICHOLAS COUNTY, KENTUCKY on JUNE,15,1924 , to WILLIAM _________. and BESSIE _______.

I was preceded in birth by a brother, MARION ,a sister,ANN , and followed by a sister, NANCY. We all grew up together on the farm and attended NICHOLAS COUNTY SCHOOLS.and later we all graduated from CARLISLE HIGH SCHOOL .

In 1941 , after high school ,I went to work for the A&P grocery store in CARLISLE which I managed for a short time.

Then in 1943 , I enlisted in the NAVY as a sonar technician.

I was assigned to the U.S.S. O,RILEY , a submarine hunter/killer ship. There I spent the entire war ,I also ,while there , met my best buddy , NORVAL_______. of OAK RIDGE ,TENNESSEE. We worked the ATLANTIC OCEAN for a while, taking nine convoys of around 800 ships to EUROPE and AFRICA . We were proud to say that we never lost a single ship to enemy action while under our escort. Later we were sent to the PACIFIC where we covered half the globe.

When the WAR ended I returned to CARLISLE.

On January 15,1946 I married the LOVE OF MY LIFE. My beautiful EVA .
